As part of our smart home build, Debbie and I have spent a lot of time trying to build flexibility into our plan. The goal is to be able to adopt future technologies without major complications or outrageous costs. Nobody can provide real-time information about the very latest smart home technology developments as it literally changes every day. A quick update on our home build project … this week we’ll meet with a couple of prospective builders to see if they are what we’re looking for. Once we make a decision and receive a bid the fun begins — value engineering to accommodate for issues with budget, supply chain and timeline. As we’re looking to get a shovel in the ground as early as possible next year this will have be an aggressive exercise. The reason is we estimate about a 10 month build cycle and would like to be completed and in the house before the end of next year.
